Most American troops are in Europe to essentially be the cost-free (to the European nations) army of Europe. We’re pulling back troops from the countries that refuse to pay into NATO what they are bound to pay. (Many countries have been skimping on it for years.)

a) You don't "pay into" NATO. b) There is no "bound to pay”. c) The deal wrt. to Germany is: "as long as you don't go nuclear, we will provide you a credible nuclear deterrent” d) The one and only time in history that Article 5 has been invoked was by the US, and Europe helped

When I look out of the window I see more possibility of breeding "The Wrong Stuff", unfortunately. It´s sad, but our generation made the mistake to make that possible.

The reason we had troops in Germany, and still do, is because they made war against the world twice in 20 years. It was an army of occupation.
