I enjoyed my time in #Germany: good huntin', good flying. Met Mr. Melzheimer, who owned some huntin' grounds, and I "guided" for him. In 2004, we visited his house and grounds #Friends #aviation The Germans after WWI weren't allowed to fly powered flight so flew gliders. @BILD

Wonderful story. What kind of dogs were with you on your hunts? Used to be a POW camp near Gstaad for American soldiers who were shot down by the Suisse! Those servicemen were allowed to leave the camp and party in town as long as they were back by curfew.

Glad you had a great time General! Haven't talked much lately. Quite disturbed about things in California as my daughters and grandchildren live there, while I live near Nashville and my friends the @oakridgeboys .

@GenChuckYeager I was wondering if you've ever met Mr. Joachim "Joe" Hoehne, who was a Me163 pilot for the Luftwaffe in WWII. His dad was Otto Hoehne, wingman and WWI Ace. Around 1990, my Dad met Mr. Joe when he walked in and saw a sign in my Dad's business that.. (continued)

that read "Discount for War Stories" (it was a humorous way Dad got some of the old guys to tell about their war stories. A lot of vets liked to hang around his shop drinking coffee). Mr. Joe told him a fantastic story about becoming a Luftwaffe pilot at age 16 and.. (continued)
