Apart from the variable-incidence tail design lifted from the 52, original Bell design had a conventional one... And was remarked they had problems in control with that design. 52 tail added... No problem. Bell were given access to design then US reneged on sharing any data.

It has been debunked by the only aeronautical engineer/historian. Yes, there are a lot of reports, none firsthand, all mostly British that are wrong. They wished it were true. No one should just believe Wikipedia: not vetted by any qualified historian & owner has the last word.
