May 8, 1944 #VEDay We won. I was in #Texas as an instructor #pilot & V E Day changed that. As an evadee, I got first choice of base. I chose Wright Field because it was closest to home - Hamlin, #WestVirginia. Turned out to be a good choice in more ways than one. @HISTORY

Were you here in San Antonio? My husband's mother was an Army RN. She first served here in San Antonio and then England and France. On VE day she was in Paris! We retired to San Antonio. After a while... one longs for WARM winters! Went to the beach two days ago!pic.twitter.com/XS37m0OqNH
