It was criminal. Worst day Every kid watched it on TV. Thiokal engineers begged their bosses not to launch. This was a know problem and the bosses totally ignored the warnings. NASA violated their own mission rules. Just a horrendous situation and terrible engineering. Still mad!

Hang on. Not terrible engineering. The o-rings had a spec. The engineers told them they would be operating outside of that spec and the rings would. People going off script and making it up as they went was the problem. It's a fucking rocket. You don't just decide to wing it.
