Beyond-Visual-Range air-to-air weapons were a game changer. However a heavy ECM/jamming war environment could lead to enough "fog of war" to require visual means to ID friend or foe, which in turn could lead to traditional dogfights. Furballs will be bad for those involved!

As long as you can think like that, you haven’t grown old. The Airforce has been working to remove pilots for many years now. They are the weak point in the system unfortunately. Without a pilot, you could make a 20g, Mach 3 fighter.
