I totally remember the D over the B versions in your book - 30 years ago! Such a great book. I remembered when about to get the "D" some guy was about to crash it cause he had pushed in some lever or something and you had to fly with him to talk him through it - sec to spare!

Was it the bubble canopy or the newer engine?

Engine was the same with the B and D. The B received the Merlin engine over the A’s Allison.
