    May 12, 1950 – After @usairforce gave Convair a contract to install an Allison J33-A-29 jet engine w/ afterburner in XF-92A, I tried to fly XF-92A fr @EdwardsAFB to Convair in San Diego but engine failed just after take off, forcing an emergency landing on dry lakebed @cnnbrk

        Golden Age of aerospace industry - and of American capitalism; constant big wars and constant Cold War juiced good-wage jobs economy by creating hordes of good-wage jobs - while also removing hordes of excess workers from U.S. job market.

        In the meantime, USSR was spending a far greater % of their puny GDP on their military. Without a Free Press or free elections the citizens had no choice but to pay for it.

        September 9th, 1976-After the Pep Boys guys gave the go ahead to install a short water pump instead a long pump on my 1972 Mustang I tried to drive to Ohio but it overheated just after take off. (Sorry General, but our stories aren’t quite like yours sir. This is the best I got)

        That plane was the one they eventually re-designed into the F-102 using the "area" rule from Whitcomb for the fuselage. Right? How bad was the 92 compared to the 102?
