Maybe that works as a criticism of WW1 (although we really didn't have a dog in that fight). It's clearly bullshit with respect to WW2.

Russia inflicted four million military casualties on the Germans. One and a half million German casualties in all other theaters. I’d say that’s most of the work. No doubt US controlled the Pacific theater.

You're using the wrong measurements re "work"

I find it a highly American-centric point of view that we did as much or more as Russia to defeat Germany in WW2. Does the rest of the world share this conclusion?

I find it silly to play a game of "who did more" when the truth is the vast majority of us weren't even born. Yeager is one of the very few exceptions. Perhaps Russia would have fared better had they not started the war supporting Germany. Hindsight is 20/20.

I agree somewhat that it seems childish at first glance but it’s an important history lesson to look at objectively. I don’t want Americans to forget all the Allies’ contributions and assume we did all the work. Team effort for sure.

You forget- we did not have to help in WWI & did not have to help in Europe in WWII.

You're probably right about WWI, but I suspect if we didn't fight WWII in Europe we would have eventually fought it on our own shores.

A class at Naval War College on staying out of the conflict in Europe. Outcomes included ramping up the Submariner force to a multiplier destroying German capability. We would spend lot less money, and in the end, had they persisted, would have dropped the bomb on them too.
