Last Veteran's day I met & spoke to Gen Bob Cardenas, who flew the mothership. Another great pilot & American.

Funny thing: as a test pilot he flew everything up to and including the YB49 flying wing, but what he most wanted to talk about was gliders (sailplanes). My wife (we were both once student pilots) took a ride in one, but I've never.

In the movie, it looked like a tight fit. It didn’t look like it would’ve been easy to fall. Don’t get me wrong; there’s no way I would’ve done it! Actually, the X-1 was kind of a death trap anyway. You are a special person!
