No. In his books it's described as getting up in the top of pine trees and swaying back and forth until you can jump to an adjacent tree. Once in rhythm a person could travel across the forest quickly. Read the books "Yeager" and "Press On"

My dad did the same thing- deer hunting on weekends, worked the cornfield and cows upstate NY, left at 17 went infantry. Switched in 1950 to USMC, became one of the Chosin chosen. Like you, some heroes know when/how to be heroes.
