My granddad Frank O’Beirne was a young Naval officer commanding the VP-22 squadron of PBYs out of Pearl that day...my father was a child playing outside on Battleship Row and remembers the Japanese pilots flying low and *waving* as they strafed.pic.twitter.com/qHHM3EPXo2

in the years since the war, the West has rightly recognized the evil done by Germany but very neatly whitewashed the crimes of Japan. and that is a terrible thing.
