With all due respect General I'm going to defend my country on this one. Nobody stated the X1 is based on the M.52. But the RESEARCH gained from the M.52 project was shared with Bell Aircraft after the Labour government cancelled the program in 1946.

Plus the Labour Party didnt know what they had with the all flying tail, something they had in WWI. They were trying to decry Churchill as some sort of Warlord. They are the same people who gave the RR Nene to the Russians. And started the slaughter of the UK Aviation Industry.
