I have never doubted Neil Armstrong going to the moon as he was great but what I don't get is why we haven't been back considering the technology we have now - what are your thoughts on that

We weren't able to prove that until pretty recently. All the water is at the poles, which we didn't explore in the 70s because physics.

General. Over the long run we can't keep all our eggs in one basket. We have to expand to the planets and the stars or die. Period. Even if we dodge asteroids, pandemics, wars, etc. , eventually,inevitably the Sun WILL go red giant and DEVOUR the Earth. Luna is a stepping stone.

I say go back to inspire a new generation of American’s to strive for the unreachable. In 2022 it will have been 50 years since we went! With todays technology the videos and visits to historic landing sites would be riveting.
