Chief test pilot Eric Brown said «If I were in a dogfight, I'd prefer to be flying the Spitfire», when comparing it to Mustang.

He'd never make it to Germany so he's basically saying, he'd rather stay comfy in England than go fight the Germans on their soil and defeat them

No, that’s not what he is saying at all. Obviously. He is simply making a qualitative judgement, based on his experience and knowledge. He was probably too decent a man to point out that Spitfires were taking on the Luftwaffe in 1940 while you were staying comfy in the US.

You're welcome. Had we not come over or done lend lease you'd be tweeting in German

Not disputing that. Merely pointing out that your tweet was conflating two issues. Eric Brown was just expressing a preference for the Spitfire in a dogfight, as you were for the P51. He was not saying he’d “rather stay comfy in England”.

You simply missed Chuck's point. It's a fact the spitfire could not make the distance to Germany. Sit in England and play defense was their only option. The P-51 could take the fight straight to the Germans and boy how they hated to see it, because by that time it was to late!

Nobody has disputed the range of the P-51; Captain(N) Eric Brown just stated that the Spitfire was a better dogfighter. And for the record — the first to «take the fight to the Germans» were 95 British aircraft bombing Berlin on 25 August 1940.

You are missing the point. No one asked what Eric Brown thought. So please remove the post with his name
