My Dad flew B-17s & the first time he saw a B-17 pass over after the war, he ran off the road. Holy crap.

I disagree. They were useful by being the worlds largest aircraft and one of the first mix powered production aircraft.

General. They were noisy ground would rumble. They use to fly in at Oakland Airport, military section early 50s and maybe Alameda Naval Air. Both air patterns on landing the seemed always align with my street? Then came the B52 late 50s 60s. Once at least 10 in a row?
