We as a society don't want to ask the hard questions and actually solve the underlying problem. We are too quick to pass the buck. Let's look in the mirror and ask ourselves what could we as voters have done differently so a 16 year old doesn't have a gun and/or hold up a store

There's no passing the buck. They were caught with meth(with violence in the past in this made up narrative)which is why there's a higher bail. Their lives are THEIR responsibility, not society's. If they are actively CHOOSING to sell meth then they pay for it.

I don't think its that simple. Yes, their "lives" are their responsibility but that assumes they have "lives" worth living. Good societies make sure that every citizen has the economic opportunity to have a life worth living on a level playing field with a safety net.

And the US offers you that choice. Some people just CHOOSE not to take it. You're a desi guy, you should be aware what a country with no opportunity looks like vs a one where we have 3.9% unemployment(pre covid) and no federal income taxation for half the country.

I have lived in 3 countries under 3 systems. Yes, US is great and I am lucky to be living in
#SanFrancisco. A country this wealthy should not have homelessness, violent crime at all. That's due to economics. We have the skillset but we don't have the will or the conscience.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Norway has all sorts of programs and safety nets that US doesn't. They still have homelessness Violent crime occur even amongst the wealthy, a higher proportion of violence occurs amongst the wealthy blacks, I have sources if you'd like to verify. Violence is not due to poverty

Norway is 7/10K, US is 17/10K However, it's not very useful. Homelessness is warmer climate zones are higher. A lot of people complain about homeless in
#SanFrancisco but this is also a state and national problem. We can do much effectively but some laws need changing at state.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Correct on Norway, so it further proves that social safety nets cannot eradicate homelessness. Even in countries with populations smaller than our cities. Suggest laws that need to change to eradicate homelessness?

Yes, if our goal is not have any homelessness, than what should our policies be and how would be implement them by law? If we desire some homelessness, what is the % that we desire? different policies and laws. Better goal: no person should have to live on public streets

What if we have all the room and boarding available and the person STILL chooses to live on the streets? Like they did during March through July in NYC despite Blasio buying Manhattan hotel rooms at $175/night to house them all and they STILL slept outside.

I'm sure there is more to this story Did anyone ask why? Why do you think that is, if true?
