What's wrong with it? He knows the law and he is right to ask why he is being detained. This is a lesson for anyone that gets stopped especially people of color. I don't have to give them my name and I don't have to give them my phone. Get a search warrant.

We get that he is not a fan of the cops. Most people of color, particularly blacks, are not fond of them either. They have a job to do, they are needed. We do need to rethink what policing should be going forward. People are informed by their lived experience.

This is anecdotal to me, but as a former Civic Center resident, I can say that nearly all my neighbors (most of whom were minorities) had a good relationship w/ SFPD. This is empirical to the US, but 81% of black Americans don't want less police.https://www.newsweek.com/81-black-americans-dont-want-less-police-presence-despite-protestssome-want-more-cops-poll-1523093 …

Just my personal experience, but most of my affluent friends dislike police (mostly on principle) & most of my more working class friends have good opinions of police (mostly on lived experience). Al Sharpton had a good point about this over the summer. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/al-sharpton-only-a-latte-liberal-would-want-to-get-rid-of-police/ar-BB18Pdip …

I don't have much interaction with the police. The one I had left a bad taste. I challenged him in court and he lied and the judge believed him. You could be in the right but there is no way you'd win in court because the system is designed to give them deference.
