What is [...] destructive of civilization is the pretence that everything has a price or, in other words, that money is the highest of all values. 8/?

the weirdest thing about adhd is constantly being told things like “if only you would use the motivation you put towards [hyperfixation] for [work thing] instead” as if motivation is this neutral resource that you can just “put” somewhere

The behind the scenes of what everyone else only sees as “Your face on a camera.” A lot goes in to making remote meetings productive.

For those who haven't been listening to us in-the-know about Facebook's business practices, non-transparent tracking, & profile targeting (including the shadow profiles you help them build on those in your network), here's a taste. Not a full accounting, but an introduction.

After two years of not using Facebook - I logged in today to check out this new tool that shows what Facebook has been tracking. Despite this, they have seen my every move on the Internet - this is creepier than I had imagined.

Right Now, the United States is undergoing many teachable moments that must not be squandered. The particular lesson I have in mind here is about systems thinking. This thread is about applying systems thinking to today’s politics. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. 1/18

This article does a good job of pointing out the changes one needs to make when transitioning from direct to indirect management. I've seen a number of people who stumbled on these changes after being promoted.

X : What would you do with a $5M salary? Me : I'd live a life of luxury and excess and still give away $4.5M in charitable donations per year. You're talking amounts of money that ... well ... our system is broken.
