It seems to me that Truss correctly described the syndrome (low growth). But she is yet to diagnose the disease (a restrictive housing and planning vetocracy). She then administered the wrong treatment (sugar rush tax cuts before the bitter green vegetables of planning reform).

Another plug for my diagnosis:

Would be really interesting to read anything resembling a reasonable refutation to this. Because weirdly thereโ€™s no sense that any of the big parties have a large caucus of MPs or high level activists vocally making this argument.

Looking for a Saturday long read? Make it this, on the root cause of the strikes and the general sense thatโ€ฆ nothing is working right now.

Maybe if there were fewer Russian dick suckers like you energy prices wouldnโ€™t have spiked to enable this profit, but thatโ€™s not a conversation youโ€™re willing to have ๐Ÿคก

Shell just recorded ยฃ32 billion in profit. 3,000 people in the UK die every year because they can't afford to heat their homes. Thereโ€™s nothing pragmatic about letting greed run rampant while the poorest freeze to death. Energy is a public good. It should be in public hands.

It wonโ€™t be long until AI is able to rewrite your favourite songs in your favourite genre. Someone had to make this tropical house remix of Murder on the Dancefloor. Tomorrow? Itโ€™ll be done in minutes.

This is what you stand for? The disgusting, grey hellscape at the top? And you actively reject the human paradise below?

The LTNs target the vulnerable, trades people & hard working motorists. All to raise revenue for the council & to benefit cycling campaigners. We will rip out all Haringey LTNs. Vote Conservative in the TH by-election #fightingfortottenham #haringeyltns
