As the plane touched down a few minutes ago in Kigali I felt proud but also humbled knowing how far we have to go to protect everyone and solve vaccine inequity.

I want to thank all of our partners, the amazing scientists who developed these vaccines in record time, the amazing donors who provided financing in record time as well as provided doses when export bans blocked our orders & the health care workers delivering the doses.

That milestone is not going to change the course!!! There will still be tons of dangerous variants and they will prolong the pandemic because many of these doses will likely be scrapped!!!
