Total rainfall amounts today will be pretty light over the northern half of our region. From south of Cape May, NJ to Dover, DE...some heavier downpours may occur this afternoon if thunderstorms develop. We are not expecting any strong storms, though.

GeoColor imagery of Canada and the northeastern U.S. via NOAA's GOES East satellite. A long stream of grayish smoke stretches from Western Canada, down through New York and parts of New England, and out over the Atlantic. The dark smoke is easy to see against the stark white clouds that surround it.

A narrow plume of elevated smoke stemming from Canadian wildfires can be seen on @NOAASatellites visible satellite imagery today. The plume may add a haze to the sky as it drifts south, especially this evening. #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx

We have a warm and sunny day to kick off the work week! Tuesday will be a different story, however: cloudy and cool with showers for much of the area. But take a look at the rest of the week: sunny skies and warming temperatures each day. Some places could break 80 on Friday!

Several waves of low pressure will bring rain to the area from Fri-Mon. We've been quite dry this year so far, so this is some much needed rainfall. After an inch or so of rain Fri-Sat, an additional inch or so of rain is possible Sun-Mon.
