It is sad when you see smart people becoming too ideological about their opinions. I agree with him on general AI but to make his point he actually bashes all existing AI efforts in a strange all or nothing attitude. This is super unhelpful

Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps I misunderstood. My point was the existing AI efforts hace huge current applications and solve a lot of challebges. But, I do realize and agree with your statement that such hugely useful approaches don't address the GAI goal
