Agree w/ some of @GaryMarcus and Davis's points here but don't find the "current AI != 'genuine AI'" framing helpful. Generality/genuineness is a spectrum; today's ML, while outputting narrow systems, is >general than previous ones. Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps I misunderstood. My point was the existing AI efforts hace huge current applications and solve a lot of challebges. But, I do realize and agree with your statement that such hugely useful approaches don't address the GAI goal
