Not only will Deep Learning not lead to AGI, it is a serious hindrance to achieving it. DL has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence and it sucks precious research funds from promising AGI research. DL is not even learning since the answer (label) is known beforehand.

Spot on article. Doesn’t mean Deep Learning is any less useful as a tool when the hype subsides. However general intelligence will require a paradigm shift. I do wonder if using the term ‘intelligence’ wrt Deep Learning is counter productive.
