      So...I just read the "Machine Theory of Mind" paper (https://arxiv.org/abs/1802.07740 ) from DeepMind. I actually like the idea of this paper: a meta-learning approach to opponent modelling. BUT: it is an egregious example of the deep learning community's paper writing excesses.

      I don't think these concerns are actually related. Overly bold clams and a lack of related work is quite distinct from disrespecting innateness.

          But you were critiquing claims in the MToM paper that weren't problematic. I don't think the "autonomous" claim is unfounded at all. Not having a related work section on the other hand...
