No, it's rare. One must remember that the vast majority of AI work is about getting stuff done, not AGI, nor getting stuff done in 2040; even at the bleeding edge, one has very little perceived need for interdisciplinary expertise. That's what makes this initiative so exciting.

Humans gain common sense by interacting with their environment and learning. The brain converts all sensory stimuli to precisely timed spikes. The key to common sense learning is finding the temporal order in spike streams. Does AI2 know this? I doubt it but good luck to them.
