I've been in robotics 25 years, but never heard robotics described as nativist. I assume you mean in the philosophical sense that 'ideas that are not derived from external sources'?

If so, I agree that this used to be the case. But modern robotics is highly interdisciplinary.
@BristolRobotLab projects bring together people and ideas from psychology, neuroscience, biology, animal ethology, biochemistry, moral philosophy, social science etc. It's a long list. - 2 more replies
