@IntuitMachine: From Silver et al (2016): "Each node s in the search tree contains edges (...). Each edge stores a set of statistics (...)." How is that not a symbolic approach? Please, people, do proper research before making strong claims. Everything else is highly unhelpful.

Which you are implying that the human brain also has a Monte Carlo Tree Search? What's more likely, a brain with primitive components that performs a tree search or a neural network that has learned how to perform an approximate tree search?
