I stand by my claim that getting high accuracy from small data robustly in real world tasks is hard. sorry if the subtler version wasn't entirely clear in the context of a short talk or slide bullet.

I definitely agree with that statement. Although we're trying to make it easier, and are having some success. If people think it's impossible, it puts them off from trying. If they think it's hard but doable, it encourages people to give it a go.
