Is anyone who understands deep learning saying it gets us to cognition? That doesn't sound like an interesting question at all. Robust scene or sentence understanding is an interesting question, if you can define "robust" in a precise and falsifiable way
agreed: deep learning is often more resilient that hand feature engineering.
