Why do you all give so much bandwidth to Marcus? He has no idea what he is talking about. I say this as someone who doesn't really believe in AI, and disillusioned with most ML research. There is a niche to be filled, and he fills it, while not understanding what he "critiques".

They are aware of all the "truths" you point to them. The hype is unfortunate, and there is a lot of money involved so it continues, but that's separate from actually thinking crazy stuff like "BERT understands". It's a dumb, but useful model and everyone knows it.
