Okay that doesn't alarm me that much from what's actually known in the article at this point. If they got caught with a large number of HIPAA violations that would be financially punishing even for a Google. 1/2

A few things to consider: a.) HIPAA restricts purposes for use of data, for example marketing is taboo as a purpose, b.) The financial penalties can be applied on a per violation basis, and they're pretty big. So if they lobby to roll back protections, that would be concerning.
