Not trying to say it's impossible. Merely that "pretrained DL isn't the human kind of innateness" is only a priori true in that rather literal sense. IMHO In terms of the products of the evolution, it's probably a step in the right direction.

It obviously isn't working anywhere near the bar you've set for it, but It's working better than other existent solution methods. I agree with you that we need more structure for extrapolation (see my pinned tweet), but I view that process as being well underway.
