Not so sure about that, he explicitly discounts hybrid models because they don't resolve the underlying philosophical issues with symbolic methods
i will have a look, but they are still in principle different dimensions. and eg alpha star is an existence proof that you can intelligent-ish behavior from a model that is innately structured to be a hybrid .

It's a hybrid because that deep learning is the wrong AGI model and needs a crutch to handle things it cannot handle. But how many GOFAI crutches can one attach to DL? 1 million? 1 billion? How do you handle edge cases with symbols?
