One thing to bear in mind is that Popper's perspective is probably too simplistic to be very useful for AI. The strictness of a falsification paradigm is not compatible with the development of highly complex theories that are partially correct.
@zerdeve is an expert on this
am not arguing for strict Popperian perspective but there is a lot of resistance in these parts to the identification of limits, and to my mind you can’t make progress without a realistic assessment of limits.

No argument there! We have a long way to go in bringing things down to earth. A cognitive perspective is very helpful here, as a way of understanding how hard thinking is. Every AI researcher should take an intro course in cognitive.

True AI needs a *theory* from inputs to high level concepts. It is only reasonable to build this theory on the study on the beautiful natural intelligence. I say that Nature is constantly unveiling all the clues to us, but we are missing to put together the hints
