I think people who are not in the field would indeed feel this way but this is no small advance. They haven’t amplified importance of DeepRL. Make robot hand do this stuff with symbols or without using RL and I will eat this tweet back. Time to get head out of the sand.

Those robot hands use fully deterministic algos, have no perception and fail on every condition they are not explicitly programmed for. Their entire behavior is hard coded like industrial robot performing fixed sequence blindly. There is no comparison here.
