How is searching a tree any different from an ant navigating a real tree?
My point is that biological brains already have innate navigational capabilities. Exploring and backtracking, albeit not as systematic as tree algos, already exists in the smallest of brains.
An ant like a bee explores it's space as part of a liquid brain (ii.e. collective). In the case of a bee, it synchronizes its discoveries with the rest of the hive. No high faluting symbolic manipulation required.
