      I agree with you, and I've also been saying this for years. We have AI that is now really good at individual tasks, but we're trying to use monolithic models to solve every task in a single model. We need to be combining models with logic using classical ai and regular software.

      Well, take for example self driving cars. It would be better to have a single well trained model for car identification and distance, a separate model for detecting construction zones a third model focused on road signs... combine these and more for a solution with logic.

      It allows you to have better testing around the trained models, and control things explicitly like: If construction detected alert driver and prompt to disengage.

      Tesla needs a model for detecting just: "Simi Pulling Across Road". That would have saved a life already. This would help with edge cases, and help us get from 90% perfect to 99.99% perfect.

      problem is that there are too many edge cases to build individual systems for each. we may need more sophisticated general cognitive mechanisms rather than hacking each case, in order to solve outlier problem
