I guess I’m wondering why you would argue that we shouldn’t regard level-5 driving as imminent, nowish.
eg 3 articles in nyt last month make this point. why would you think it is imminent? edge cases are a huge problem

We should stop calling them edge cases though. It's a fundamental problem of deep learning. Unlike the brain, a DNN is blind to patterns and objects it has never seen before. This is a fatal flaw, not an "edge" problem. This is why current approaches to self-driving are failing.
