I think it’s more overlooked than disagreed upon, because the midde ground doesn’t make good headlines. So most people who aren’t AI researchers take what they read at surface value and ascribe either too-simple or too-magical powers.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’d love to see more honesty from orgs like DeepMind and more discussion of applications for their work even if it’s not the holy grail.
