I definitely appreciate how Geoff's statement has influenced the discussion in radiology... it is much easier to argue against a specific, exaggerated prediction than it is to explain the nuances of automation. He deserves credit for helping us calm our colleagues :)

The article is a great example of the vibe among rads. Excited, engaged, keen on moving forward. Really, people should start training radiologists now. It's just completely obvious that in five years radiologists will have to know how to apply and QA deep learning systems.

ML algorithms will work alongside radiologists to better diagnose people. They will not substitute radiologist, or we are doomed.
