I read through the whole
@GaryMarcus thread: who is in denial of what exactly? The obj recognition issues due to rotation or weird pose are well acknowledged by the whole (DL) community afaik
You must have missed my tweet from the first page of the new book by Founder of NIPS saying that object recognition had been solved...

Saw that incipit: a clumsy one. That said, despite I disagree, I do think it is OK to believe that AGI can be built with DL, until proven wrong. IMO, it's surely neither denial of issues (eg in obj recognition) nor of the limits of DL, which are there yet to be proven.
