Deep learning alone can do a lot of things (in NLP, CV, etc.). tbh it seems you do a lot of pointing to cases where it alone is not sufficient & say "see, Deep Learning won't get us to true AI" when no one was saying that it will in the first place (except non-experts).
Likewise, deep learning alone can do (with limits) object perception, but not high quality scene comprehension.

The problem is that a deep neural net cannot see an object unless it has been trained to see it. This is a fatal flaw. No animal could survive if it could not see new objects it has never seen before. I know you ignore my tweets, Marcus, but you do so at your own detriment.
