Um, when did you ask before? I missed it. I didn’t realize the etiquette, and was thinking things might be lost in the thread, and was trying to bring them out more visibly.

Retweeting one's own reply is probably the best way to balance both those requirements.

Yes if you simply retweet the thing you're replying to and your reply, then it works nicely.

Concur and I've mentioned this in the past as well. Regarding the fear of things getting lost in thread, aim to discuss with the person first, then bring it to a broader audience w summary tweet.
