One way to find the limits is to keep pushing the technology to solve progressively more challenging problems. As a side effect, we get very useful applications.
It’s hard to watch a field of black box methods try to insulate itself from an understanding of its limits, like the ones I published (with experimental evidence) in 1998/2001, recently extended by @LakeBrenden.
