Spoken like someone who doesn’t have children, elderly parents, or friends who were killed in automobile accidents. And the problem is not that self-driving cars aren’t feasible, it’s that they aren’t feasible yet.https://twitter.com/morganastra/status/1034630987701862402 …

even if self driving cars were technologically feasibly (it's becoming increasingly clear they're not), they're also completely fucking pointless. the only "problems" they solve are segregating the rich from the poor in urban environments and undercutting transit operator unions

Not sp. Rather am one of the world’s most vocal critics of deep learning and (current) self-driving cars, often quoted in that regards, and was not paid for that tweet (or any others). But I do like to see arguments made correctly.

I don’t know the etymology of “trains” or “cars,” but it might clear things up to concoct a new word for this new form of transportation. After all, cars, buses, and trains will most likely operate along side these proposed ground drones.

I often have flashbacks to my 2 year son crossing our little street and being a second away from on being run down by a car (he didn’t). Yes totally my fault as a distracted parent. The faster we get this to work the better ... next step then might be autonomous parents?🤔

Talking about tech is tough because time horizons are vague. I get the enthusiasm. But most of us have elderly parents and aging relatives. I struggle w whether introing them to Alexa is selfish or not. There’s no chance in hell I’d put them in an self-driving car today.
