AI doesn't magically provide product and solutions. There is a lot of basic ground work to be done. People tend to forget that and call an AI winter... Be patient and don't promise the moon (just yet)!

My worry is that a massive backlash will be happening. In academia it's just now not about innovation but milking the funding agencies with promising the world with DL and only DL because it apparently works. There are whole armies of PhDs doing nothing else than tweaking TF.

Many have known about the inadequacies of deep learning long before you began making a name for yourself on the issue. The "hybrid" symbolic/deep-learning approach you're advocating is a total nonsense. DL is and has always been symbolic AI, loud denials notwithstanding.

Just to be clear. The main reason that deep learning is the wrong approach to AGI is precisely because it is based on representationalism, i.e., symbolic AI. And you Marcus think you're clever by calling for more of the same crap. This is lame, man, a waste of everyone's time.

I have yet to see a clear problem and solution for AI in healthcare. More like solutions to problems that don’t exist. The overzealousness comes from ostracizing practicing healthcare providers (not pundits) from the development.

Oh cmon. Ai winter is an understatement. Ai is not going to ever deliver better than biological intelligence. All the same boundary conditions will subsume any system of sufficient complexity. We have to “get real” as the kids say. And you’re as real about as anyone...
