Your essays are inspiring. That said, those of us advocating hybrid models also need to identify/publicize concrete tasks where these models clearly beat DL. You've mentioned Flashfill-like inductive programming. Another one: learning functions with formal guarantees. What else?
alphaGo is a hybrid. also my guess is that the best driving systems are hybrids, but i don’t know if any good comparison w end to end deep learning, with so much being proprietary.

Yes, but "driving systems" are too broad and fuzzy. It would be good to have tasks that are narrow enough to permit apples-to-apples comparisons with DL, but are also broadly acceptable as "AI". IMO, programming and solving K-12-level math/science problems are good examples.
