interesting paper, but from the abstract perhaps just moving around which bits are innate; still presuming a set of innate operators. and can it compete w AlphaGo?

Can humans compete against AlphaGo? That's not the correct point. The correct point is if you can create a system that learns how to perform MCTS. It's the difference between traditional programming and training systems.
