I’m not assuming that. Innate priors are important! I’m suggesting that learning will always be key.

Is “symbol-manipulation” the same as “object-manipulation”?

I think in the cortex the method of object representation is the same whether it’s a cup or a concept or a symbol. We think it involves grid cell mechanisms that define all objects wrt movement through space. Some representation of location is built into all ideas.

I don’t think those papers show that necessarily - a lot of learning happens in the womb and in the first year of life. I agree, arguing with you w/o having read your work is < ideal. But, this is Twitter, not an academic journal. It should all be for fun.
